Allison May Kiphuth: Trajectory

This May, Nahcotta is thrilled to announce the solo exhibition of Allison May Kiphuth, on view from May 6 through May 29, with an opening reception from 5-8 PM on the evening of Friday, May 6th. Allison May Kiphuth, an artist living and working on the New Hampshire seacoast, utilizes the fragile elements of fine wire, watercolor, ink, paper, and pins to create layered dioramas of a Lilliputian scale in antique boxes. Reconstructing the outside world with which she’s both enamored and familiar, Kiphuth reinterprets the expansive landscapes of entire mountain ranges and densely overgrown forests in the form of astonishing miniaturization. Owls and wolves, murders of crows, whales and seas, woodlands and skies, smaller than your average shirt button magically, retain all of their most glorious and intimate details. Her work was recently lauded on This is Colossal and The Galerie Project, which posits that “Kiphuth wants to memorialize these scenes in a way that reflects the larger power of our planet.”
