"My artwork is primarily a study of how line and shape can exist in both two and three dimensional space at the same time. In this collection of chair portraits the unused piece of furniture typically left waiting against the wall takes center stage. The title "A Seat (Aesthete)" was inspired by the Gilbert and Sullivan opera "Patience" which is, in fact, a satire of the aesthetic movement but which led me to conclude upon further reading that I myself am an aesthete. The title is both a play on the words and an elevation of the lowly, forgotten extra chair to now 'The Seat', not of power but beauty."
