Avery Williamson is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores historical and contemporary notions of the archive, Black pleasure and spatiotemporal collapse. Her body of work includes weaving, photography, jewelry, painting and drawing. Through these media she explores the narratives of Black women in personal and institutional archives. Williamson graduated from Harvard College with a degree in Visual Studies. There she was awarded the Thomas Temple Hoopes Prize for extraordinary undergraduate work. Williamson has since shown work in Philadelphia, New York, Cambridge, Nashville and Ann Arbor. Her work has been featured by the Instagram Design team, Etsy and the American Craft Council. Williamson currently lives and works in Southeast Michigan.
