Alex Warnick is a natural history artist based in southern Indiana. She works closely with conservation efforts to highlight the world's bird life. Her work pays homage to artist-naturalists of the nineteenth century while drawing inspiration from her own experiences in the field.

"This series of paintings was inspired by the flora and fauna of high summer—midwestern meadow birds tucked in the tangled undergrowth of hedge bindweed, creeper vine, and milkweed. Birds are quieter this time of year since there’s no longer any need to display or defend territories, and the baby birds lisping all summer have now grown up. I decided to highlight the females, whose muted colors blend so beautifully with the late summer landscape."
