acrylic on panel

16" x 20"

When Melissa Ambrose was in third grade, her twin sister and their best friend were obsessed with Greek Mythology. They would drag them to the woods behind their house to act out these epic stories. Despite being a reluctant participant, Melissa felt connected to the story of Artemis the goddess of hunting and the moon. She was independent, strong, and wouldn’t hesitate to use her bow and arrow if you crossed her. Artemis (a twin herself) was a source of inspiration from that point on and Melissa hoped to bring that to life in this piece.
