Why Melissa chose that particular album:
My sister and I went through an intense Beatle’s phase in Middle School and refused to listen to anything else, which was certainly weird for the mid 90’s! I was gifted this album for my birthday when we were 14 or 15 and we both agreed it was TOO weird, odd, and just plain out there. But, it slowly grew on me and, in particular, “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!” was the gateway song that lured me in. This album opened me up to embracing things that were, at first glance, out of my comfort zone. And the album artwork was revolutionary and the iconic lineup of people actually included one of my RISD college professors! Being a middle schooler, however, I took the song very literally and imagined it was about an ACTUAL kite…
