Joe Cowdrey is a native Floridian, and a recent transplant to northern New Jersey. He has been creating visual expressions in some form or another for most of his life, and has spent the better part of the last decade working to hone a vision that stems from viewing and experiencing nature in its many forms. He is constantly working to push his painting into new directions, and find new ways of representing the personal dialogue he has with his surrounding environment.
This painting is part of Joe's Enormous Tiny Art Show #31 collection. "The pieces in this collection each represent important moments over the course of the last 6 months, moments in my painting practice, as well as in my personal life. In working on these pieces, I really wanted the ideas to be fully formed and to feel like large scale works, simply boiled down to make sense on the small scale. Incorporating my used, discarded skateboards into the process to use as panels was important to the pieces as well, and helped in some ways to 'shape' their outcomes."
