This painting is framed gouache on paper. The 5.25" x 3.5" painting is floated on mat board and fitted into a light wooden frame bringing the overall size to 7" x 5". This piece has a sawtooth on the back of the frame making it ready to hang.
This piece is part of Jordan Stafford's show, Passing Through. A spontaneous joy is met with a twinge of melancholy at the realization that all of our concentrated effort cannot buy us more time. The balance of these two feelings happening in concert can ignite a shared nostalgia for a moment before it has been fully realized. In this series, each composition is a roadside snapshot to allude to the act of “passing through” and the paintings serve as a token reminder that part of us is forever tethered to the spaces we’ve occupied (no matter how briefly).
