Australian artist Alex Louisa mainly works with oils, PanPastel and watercolour, but loves to experiment with new materials as well. She focuses on elements of the natural world that grab her attention - birds have always been her favourite subject, but she also enjoys creating interesting still life compositions and landscapes.
"I've been looking forward to creating this series of 8x10"-ish landscapes for so long. Working in a slightly looser style for these scenes is a fun and freeing process, compared to my other more tightly-rendered work. For my little still life collection I selected 6 of my favourite objects from around my studio to create a study of. Keeping the lighting the same on each, I created most of each piece with PanPastel applied with a sponge, then rendered the final tiny details with a charcoal pencil." - AL
