Founded in 2012 by writer and illustrator Emily McDowell, Em & Friends joined forces with Knock Knock in 2018 and became part of Union Square & Co. in 2022. With collaborations from artists and authors like Lisa Congdon and Elizabeth Gilbert, Em & Friends continues its mission to foster connection. Committed to sustainability, it uses eco-friendly materials and US-based printing whenever possible—all to help people feel more connected and less alone.
