Wanru Kemp started academic art training from her father when she was nine. Her style is influenced by the tradition of Chinese landscape painting and literature. She has been experimenting to incorporate the implicit expressions of the East into the Western painting methods. Wanru's recent work is inspired by the North American landscape.

About this collection: Like the brightest light casting the darkest shadows and the tallest trees having the deepest roots, sometimes what we think we cannot see is already in our sight. In the new night paintings, I hope these works will appear as a deep blue box from a distance, easily overlooked, but reveal delicate details to those who come closer. "Somewhere #24" was originally planned to pair with "Howe Sound #67." There was quite a debate for me about adding the islands, and I hope you will like my final decision.
