Danna Ray is a painter from Western North Carolina. Working on location and from her studio deep in the woods of the Black Mountains of North Carolina, Ray creates landscapes using gestural marks to find immediacy and connection with her surroundings.

In my recent work, I look to the landscape for guidance toward relief and recovery in the wake of natural disaster and upheaval.
