Emma Ashby grew up in England, where her deep affection for coastal landscapes was cultivated. Today, she continues to be inspired by the coastline around her home in Portsmouth NH. Emma paints with an ancient medium called ‘encaustic’ and has an MA from the Royal College of Art.

About the "Connections" series, in Emma's words: "Every scene that I paint has an emotional connection, where something has captivated me. It might be a memory, the color, or simply the beauty. I work to capture and express that emotion in my paintings. My hope is that others will experience these connections too."
