Kristen Egan is a mixed media artist specializing in masks and sculptures. Her creative process relies on the organic shapes of natural materials like gourds, antlers and tree branches, adding details with carved wood, paper clay, and acrylics. She has developed a personal mythos that explores subjects like folk art, totemic imagery, astronomy and ecology, and her pantheon of recurring animal characters are often inspired by species native to her home state of Pennsylvania. Kristen has a BFA in Art & Design from the SUNY College of Ceramics at Alfred University, and her artwork is exhibited and collected internationally.

About this collection: Lucky Toads - It's becoming a personal tradition to start the new year of artwork with a series of "lucky" totems. These little sculptures are inspired by the toads who live on my porch all summer. Guardians and bringers of good fortune.
