About This Collection:
Homecoming, Bri Custer's new series, marks her return to the seacoast after five years in Concord, New Hampshire. These paintings hold the landscapes that have long shaped her work: Wagon Hill Farm in Durham, Parker River, Plum Island, and the nameless little views caught from the side of the road. Custer works both en plein air and from memory, treating the gap between looking and mark-making as an opening rather than a limitation — a wildly bold pink, a slant of light exaggerated to the point of distortion.

Her paintings have been featured by Hyperallergic and Create! Magazine, and shown at galleries in Providence, RI, Westport, CT and online through PxP Contemporary. The paintings in this series were made in the final stretch of her time in Concord, just before she relocated to Dover, New Hampshire, where she now lives and works full time.

Bri Custer is a painter investigating perception, memory, and color through the New England Landscape. She received her M.Ed. in Secondary Education (2019) and B.A. in Studio Art with a minor in Psychology (2014) from the University of New Hampshire. Her work has been featured by Hyperallergic, Candyfloss, and on the Create! Magazine blog and can be found at Nahcotta in Portsmouth, NH, Sorelle Gallery in Westport, CT, Dryden Gallery in Providence, RI, and PxP Contemporary Online Gallery. She is currently a full-time artist based in Dover, New Hampshire with her husband Bryan, daughter Leni, and their hound-lab mix, Vinny.
