About This Collection:
"Empty Vessels and Stacking Creatures"
The Empty Vessel and Stacking Creature Collections represent my body and mind for these past 6 years of motherhood. I've been a vessel for children who grew inside me, birthed and left me empty. Now the empty space is for holding the thoughts, wants, and needs of my children. The spout is to pour them out leaving me still and empty again. These feelings of motherhood: from the burden of carrying these children, to the space I’ve made for them in my body and in my life, have been all consuming. At times I feel poured out with nothing left to give, other times I'm so full I'm overflowing, but my own vessel, full or empty, is the support and foundation of our family: I must pick them up and carry them, one by one, stacked on me as we move along in this life. I am still an empty vessel, but ready to be open and filled up. I will make space for life, water, creativity, and for my own thoughts again when the time comes. For now these vessels are ready to be filled, used, poured, stacked, and emptied. One day they will be resting.
