About This Collection:

Sun Blocking, 2026 explores the intersection of color blocking and sun blocking, where summer light becomes both subject and structure. Cropped, close-up compositions and the shifting patterns of sun and shadow offer a framework for exploring color, shape and form.

My goal is to hold the abstract nature of paint and the real familiarities of life, occupying the space between abstraction and representation. That simplification also nods to those easy, laid back days of summer, often softened by memory.

Katherine Corden Bellisario (b. 1991) is a contemporary artist based in Traverse City, Michigan, where she lives with her husband and three young children. Known for her casual expression of the figure, her work is characterized by bold shapes and an unexpected use of color. She attributes much of her influence to her art teaching mother, who introduced her to the world of art at an early age, as well as her background in studying anatomy while pursuing her first career as a physical therapist. Her lifestyle and creative work have blended over the years, and much like mixed paint, the two have become inseparable.

Katherine’s work is held in both private and public collections nationwide and has been featured in publications including Architectural Digest, Country Living, Midwest Living and Veranda. Her art has been licensed with renowned brands like Anthropologie and Squarespace and was selected for the cover of the nationally distributed novel ‘When We Grow Up’. A permanent mural she created can be enjoyed year-round at Bryant Park in Traverse City.
