About This Collection:
My paintings draw on memory, dream, and symbolism through a recurring lexicon of motifs, each a vessel for layered meaning. My process is intuitive, informed by animist thinking that treats my subjects as active presences rather than static portraits.
In this body of work, I asked my mother to create flower arrangements for me β a work of art from her hands, translated into a work from my own. The imagery that emerged around the flowers became a study of what my mother has passed down to me, and what I carry through life because of her. The subject became a point of entry into the inheritance of memory, knowledge, objects, and experience that moves between generations. From this personal exchange, the work expands into a broader reflection on the wisdom women pass down through the matrilineal line β what we inherit, what we change, and what we add to that inheritance in turn.
