Shannon Westphal is a Maine based contemporary landscape painter who investigates emotion, line, and presence through place.

About this collection: Permanent Impermanence
The idea of impermanence allows us to appreciate when times are good and accept the hard times that will eventually pass. For me, nature has always been a constant. Nature holds the ability to jolt me out of my worry about the past or future and bring me into present mindfulness. This collection is my attempt at capturing the places that have rooted me down into a feeling of calm and connection. These paintings are minimal recreations of real places. Using color, line and space I have attempted to recreate the grounded feeling of awareness and connection
