Shae Warnick is an artist and naturalist with a BFA in intaglio printmaking and an MFA in painting. If she’s not making art, she’s usually outside learning the names of things or opening drawers in the research collections of natural history museums. Her work explores modern perceptions that are distancing people from nature, and as a curious layperson, she seeks to find the ideal balance between science and sentiment.

Show Title: "Hedge Birds"
Statement: Lately I’ve been occupied with hedges. There’s something both comforting and disquieting about the shrunken spaces hedges create. With these pieces I’ve explored crowded compositions and tiny vignettes that seem like small slices of larger, tangled scenes. The viewer peers in, and the birds peer back.
