About the Artist

Emma Ashby grew up on the East Coast of England, UK, where her deep affection for coastal landscapes was cultivated. It’s a love affair that has continued to grow in her 20+ years of living on the East Coast of New England and is reflected in the atmosphere and emotion of her paintings. Emma paints with pigmented molten beeswax, which is an ancient medium called ‘encaustic’. She lives in Portsmouth NH and has an MA from the Royal College of Art.

Collection title: "Unforgotten"
I have called this show "Unforgotten" because the landscapes and wild places represented here have remained with me long after I left them. Whether a quiet marsh at dawn, wildflowers along a forgotten path, or waves breaking against the rocky coast, these scenes have left lasting impressions of beauty, stillness, and wonder. Through these paintings, I seek to preserve something of those moments—places shaped over time by wind, water, light, and season—and to invite others to pause and remember the abiding beauty that surrounds us.
