Originally from Massachusetts, Michael Dandley is currently living in Vienna, Austria. He received a B.F.A. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and an M.F.A. from the Zurich University of the Arts.

These works are stylized studies of ecology that release my paintings from the square edges of the page into the third dimension. Rendered in clay, these natural scenes provide a high-relief canvas for my painting practice, which relies on vivid, synthetic colors. Emerging from the wall, these sculptures relate to viewers physically in ways my previous works on paper could not.
