About the Artist

Rebecca Daw lives and works in Portsmouth, NH. She studied art and design at Rhode Island School of Design and earned a BFA in Graphic Design. A career as a graphic designer followed—first as a book designer and evolving into roles as art director and designer of branded collateral for diverse clients. She cut a parallel path early on to complement the commercial work – a time/place where she could continue exploring her interests in the fine arts and create more personal work. She has maintained a practice of keeping drawing journals since middle school - not bound by any practical intention – that inform her artwork. Two winding creative paths, commercial and personal, continue to intersect, overlap, and ricochet off each other. Creating artworks to share, in any form, is ultimately her passion.

About this collection: "Abstracted"
In this series of small abstract mixed-media paintings, I explored visually what I don’t have words for. These paintings emerged full of gestural marks, layers, transparent and opaque spaces, and bits of illegible writing. They reflect my humble process of navigating upheaval, finding grounding, and seeing through obstacles – real or imagined.
