About the Artist
Alyssa Grenning is a visual artist based in southern New Hampshire. Taking cues from architecture and the natural world, her work expresses narratives through dreamlike spaces and abstract forms.
About this collection:
We still know so little about what the ocean’s depths contain—perhaps a mirror to our own minds. Messengers in fish form, with their alien and stoic appearance, provide a whimsical, yet uncomfortable tone—walking a line between animal and object.
In this “tinned fish” series, each messenger twists and folds itself to reflect a unique emotion not on the typical list. Does seeing their form conjure what the emotional definition reflects? How often do you find yourself looking outward to define what you’re feeling inside?
