Keri Kimura’s paintings explore color, chaos, pattern, and time. She studied painting at Smith College, the Glasgow School of Art, and the New York Studio School. She lives in and works in Manset on Mount Desert Island in Maine.
Title: Marble Track Time Machine
These paintings begin with geometric drawings that serve as scaffolding for ribbons of color woven over them. For me, paintings are snapshots in time, a specific event or day or place. They’re portals to those places, time machines. As I work, forms and colors shift, layer, and blur—some recede, others emerge- the way we remember things- incompletely, subjectively, sometimes in fragments.
